Can anyone recommend an effective treatment for psychosomatic insomnia?
I have Chronic fatigue syndrome and I have had a problem with sleeping but as I get only one day out I worry the night before that I wont sleep. The panic and worry that I wont and have to call the day off means that its a vicious circle. I have been on tablets but I want off them. Hypnosis is a step forward as I can get to sleep but dont keep asleep. I have tried lavender, routine, no tea, melatonin all have little effect and not reliable. Does anyone have any recommendations of alternative therapies thought field therapy etc. I would be grateful for any recommendations as it is affecting the only part of life I have left.
thank you

Chronic insomnia during summer!?
Hello everyone. From the past 3 years I have noticed I develop chromic insomnia during the summer season. This starts in Feb and usually lasts till June until it starts raining here. It's so chronic that sometimes in a period of 48 to 72 hours I just sleep for hardly 5 hours! Last year I had to go to a psychiatrist because I wasn't able to sleep for a second for over 48 hours! The doc prescribed Librium (Chlordiazepoxide) for 10 days and then kept me on Olanzapine 5 mg and Prozac 20 mg for 3 hours.. But his diagnosis was that I was suffering from depression. But now I am starting to believe this is not depression and it's something else. Is anyone aware of any such disorders and also what kind of treatment would be appropriate? Hypnotic or non hypnotic medicines? Assuming I have to live with this problem for life, I don't think hypnotics will be an option
Few facts about myself
I am 24 and I don’t have any underlying condition. I would say I am very much healthy.
I am not on any medicines at the moment. I finished my antidepressant course in December.

... Recommended benzodiazepines for severe chronic insomnia?
Recommended benzodiazepines for severe chronic insomnia?
Since the age of two I was diagnosed with insomnia.
I previously have asked this question in regards to medicinal catalysts to ‘mask’ my insomnia. I quote the term ‘mask’ as there is no exact cure for the treatment insomnia.
I do not want to hear irrelevant answers from people who know nothing of pharmaceutical/medicinal intervention.
I am use to self-adminstering Nalbuphine and Phenergan, thus I have no contraindications nor problems with self-administering medicine.
I currently am leaning toward Hydroxyzine 100mg/ml IM prn insomnia. My case of insomnia is not consecutively every night, hence the prn.
I favor injection for the simple reason that if I lay in bed and fail to fall asleep, I would rather administer IM Vistaril as the onset would be 8-12 mins and quickly sedate me.
What are your opinions? I don’t want to hear how self-injecting medicine will cause more harm than needed when I have been on the needle for years now just for Migraines.
Again, I don't want to hear reference to PO medications. I ask for injectable medicinal solutions and not oral.

Help with chronic insomnia, trouble falling asleep for over a decade.?
I am 16, and for as long as I can remember I have had extreme difficulty falling asleep. Once asleep I have no problems maintaining in this state, though the vast majority of nights I'm awake to see the sun rise even if I attempt to sleep prior to sundown. In fact, last night I had attempt to sleep at ~10:00pm and have been awake since (it is now 11:00am). The problem is not that I do not become tired, I have been tired for years. I simply can not fall asleep, even after consuming large doses of sleep aids such as Diphenhydromine (I have taken over 500mg at times, over 10x the recommended dose), Dramamine, 5-HTP, L-tryptophan, melatonin, and serotonin over extend periods of time.
Often I maintain a "semi"-sleep state throughout the night, it is more related to rest then sleep. I am conscious of my surroundings though I will sometimes have 'light' dreams and will feel slightly rested compared to a typical night. Recently all of these problems have become more frequent and sever. I have gone days without sleep and am beginning to fear for my health and mental well being. I have experienced mild hallucinations and degenerating cognitive ability, though both are rare.
Until recently (past couple of months) I was a very active person and I'm still in great shape, I have played Football since 6th grade as a offensive tackle and defensive end. I moved recently so I was unable to continue in the athletics program though I don't think that it has much to do with my problem as I have struggled with it for over a decade. I am have started training in MMA (BJJ and Mauy-Thai) as well so I am positive that physical activity is not the problem (BTW, I'm 6'3" @ ~185lbs.) I do not spend excess time in bed when not attempting to sleep either. I doubt that it is a dietary problem and I don't suffer from any kind of aches or pains during the night. I maintain a comfortable temperature in my room and my bedding is comfortable as well.
I have no idea as to what the problem could be, I have spent a large amount of time researching insomnia treatment and have tried nearly all of them save going to a physician/sleep specialist.
Please excuse any grammatical or spelling errors, I'm sure you can understand the reason for such mistakes given my situation.

I have been suffering from insomnia for about 3 months and it has been severe.
